Avantus Kitt BESSEloy, Arizona
Battery Energy Storage
Project Overview
Sargent Electric served as the EPC contractor for the battery energy storage (BESS) portion of the Kitt Solar project in Eloy, Arizona. Spanning 640 acres, the facility is set to generate 100 MW of solar energy and 400 MWh of energy storage, supplying renewable power to 32,000 Arizona homes while offsetting more than 200,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
Working directly with Fluence Energy, Sargent provided procurement and construction services across civil, structural, electrical, communications and fire-safety scopes. Sargent's work included installation of the BESS 34.5 kV feeders into the project substation and completion of the medium-voltage terminations. More than 52,000 feet of cable was prefabricated, kitted and shipped to project site, which streamlined field installation.
Faced with schedule pressures outside of its control, Sargent successfully achieved all major project milestones. A scope originally expected to take five to six months was completed in just three months, demonstrating the team's ability to rapidly mobilize resources while maintaining quality and safety standards in a demanding desert environment. The project's commitment to excellence was recognized by Avantus leadership during a 2026 site safety and environmental audit.
